Trademarks are a legal monopoly on the use of a term or symbol
in commerce. Axiom was a trademark for a computer algebra system
sold in England. The Axiom trademark cost about $20k to search
and file. Trademarks are intended to protect the public from
``confusion''. Thus, Coke is a trademark which Pepsi cannot use.
